August Musical birthdays have been posted. Just click on the link in the right-hand sidebar to see the list of celebrants and a vintage performance of  Linda Ronstadt, Kermit D. Frog and The Muppet Chorus singing “When I Grow Too Old To Dream” (circa 1981) composed by Oscar Hammerstein and Sigmund Romberg.

August’s flower is the gladiolus or poppy, and its birthstone is the peridot.

Thanks for your time.

Good morning readers,

I just wanted you all to know that I when I got home from work yesterday, my copy of “Barbara McNair – The Ultimate Motown Collection” had finally arrived and I was able to update some posts as promised. I have added her versions of “For Once in My Life” and “The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game” to the respective posts.

Please give the songs a listen and vote for you favorite renditions.

Also the February Musical Birthdays Page has been added to the right sidebar. The featured Birthday song for February is Neil Sedaka’s 1961 recording of “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen”. Sedaka wrote the music and the lyrics were written by Howard Greenfield. The song reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Neil wrote this song for his then close friend Annette Funicello.

Thanks for reading.

Just a reminder, in case you missed it, the listing of Musical Birthdays for the month of January was posted. You can find it in the “Pages” posted in the upper right-hand sidebar.

As always please don’t hesitate to let me know of any additions and/or corrections.

This month’s featured birthday themed song is “Happy, Happy Birthday Baby”, composed by Margo Sylvia and Gilbert Lopez. There are many recorded cover versions of this song, but this particular one, as recorded by the Tune Weavers in 1957, is the original.

Thanks for stopping by.

I have just prepared and uploaded a “Recommended Viewing List” . It contains part of my viewing library that I know you will find interesting and worthwhile if you love the oldies as I do.

The list can be found located in the right sidebar along with my “Recommended Reading List”.

I have also uploaded the list of “December Musical Birthdays” that can also be found in the right hand sidebar.

Happy reading, Happy viewing and Happy Birthday to all the December babies.
