My “Hello World” first post says it all for now. I will just add that I was “Simpsonized” as you can see in my photo stage left (LOL).
Seriously, at this moment in time I’d like to talk about the music, rather than me. Thanks for reading and please keep stopping by. Initially I began presenting you some of my favorite oldies every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Effective November 2008 I will be posting oldies every Monday and Thursday (except USA Monday Federal Holidays, USA Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Week). Those down times will give you a chance to peruse the archives to see posts you may have missed. But I will be sure to share with you any breaking “Oldies Music News” that I come across as it happens.
Also I want to let you know that effective December 2008 all comments and contact forms sent without valid e-mail addresses are deleted upon receipt unread (as are comments submitted for the sole intent of advertising). A conversation is meant to be a two-way street, so if you write something negative, rude, and or accusatory, then common courtesy demands that you should give a valid e-mail address so that I can give you the benefit of a response either personally or on the site (whichever is more appropriate). I have noticed, in my short blogging experience, that the critics never leave valid e-mail addresses so I have decided to take this new tactic to avoid these distractions. (Ironically these attackers are the ones in error and I could tell them so if they only had submitted a valid e-mail address) 
You must give respect to get it: it’s the golden rule!
I appreciate and solicit honest feedback to let me know how I am doing. If you want to make constructive suggestions for songs and/or monthly musical themes I would love to hear them as well.

Well I have been at this for a while now so I guess my shyness has abated some, or at least to the point that I can share with you one of my favorite pics.
This was taken by my favorite step-mom on my Dad’s 39th birthday, with me being two months away from being aged Sweet 16! We are both dressed in the hippest of 1971 fashions aren’t we now? Stripes and plaids were all the rage then: really they were. So was Dad’s “Superfly” fur coat and the blonde furniture and paneling (SMILE)
Daddy is sitting on the blonde stereo unit that I first heard so many of the classics that I am sharing with you now here at OSML. I found this photo in my Dad’s things after he passed and it is the third best gift he gave me. The first is the gift of my life and the second being the gift of music — which is what this blog is all about.

I love Old School, I been raised by the music of the legendary disc jockey,Art Laboe I remember when those Killer oldies,lowrider oldies were new hits, cause I lived through the 60’s One good old school song is “Sitting in the Park” by Billy Stuart from 1966. so you see I too come the Old School too.
I just discovered your website as I was searching for an some way to hear “Whispering Bells” by the Dell Vikings again. I remembered it tonight as I was thinking of the first record that I ever bought and played over and over and over again. It’s still fabulous!
I will be back to spend more time here because I love music and I think I’ll be able to enjoy some great memories thanks to your efforts.

Great to meet you. I too have fond memories of “WB”. “Whispering Bells” happens to be one of the 45 records that I recall playing on our giant record player/radio/tv in the living room as a child. Of course it was my Dad’s record that I played over and over again. I also played my Dad’s “When We Get Married” and my mother’s 78 record of “A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation” lot too. But “WB” was my favorite because it had a bouncier beat that I could move to (I didn’t know about dancing at that age.)
Music does bring back so many memories of carefree and happier times and if my blog gives you just a little of that I am pleased and proud.
Hope to see a lot of you around.

Been meaning to say ‘allo for some time…. love your choice of music. This one (You Talk Too Much) got me to thinking of another in a similar vain from roughly the same time. It’s called “If You Wanna Make A Fool Of Somebody”. I don’t know who it’s by. Do you?

No I am not familiar with a song by the title “If You Wanna Make A Fool Of Somebody,” but I will surely give it some research. I am always interested in hearing music that I have never heard before because 99.9 percent of the time if it is and “oldie” it is gonna be a goodie!

If this is it — I checked it out and I HAVE heard this song but not for over forty years ago. I recall this one getting much play on WABC on my transistor radio under the covers late at night
The correct title is “If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody”, and though covered by many the original was performed by James Ray in 1961. I will blog about it when I do a theme/series on either covers or male vocalists.

Sweet…. that’s the ONE… thanks a million. Must have been fantastic listening to such music on the radio (we U.K. R&B loving kids had to suffer the “mildly” censored music of the monopolist B.B.C.).

How about Delectus (Dee) Clark’s “Raindrops” to bring a tear to the eye: that sound of heavy rain falling at the beginning gets me every time! Or alternatively Eugene Dixon (alias Gene Chandler) singing “Duke Of Earl”

I had been read the dc blog that you posted and I just wanted to say thank you and well done. It’s articles like this that keep people up on us as a band. P-Funk music is “Classic American Music as far as I am concerned. The younger generation could learn an awful lot from checking out “The Original P” in concert.
It was a pleasure writing about your group’s performance because I loved it — as did all the fans present.
Your performance was just awesome so once again I thank YOU and the band for continuing to tour and give we fans the real music we want and need. You see we want the funk — gotta have that funk!

this is the reply to the comment left on “Step By Step By The Monitors”. sometimes the music works but most of the time it jus says “buffering…” and never actually starts. but maybe its not your music storage place if nobody else is complaining, maybe i jus have a crappy computer lol you have a good Hoiday weekend too!
