Richard Street, Temptations Singer, Dies at 70
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Richard Street, a member of the Temptations for more than 20 years, died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was 70.
His death, after a short illness, was confirmed by his wife, Cindy.
In his youth, Mr. Street sang with the Temptations members Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin, but he did not join the group until the early 1970s. He later moved from Detroit to Los Angeles with other Motown acts and stayed with the group until the mid-1990s.
He sang on Temptations songs like “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” “Masterpiece”and “Superstar.”
Mr. Street was born Oct. 5, 1942, in Detroit. Besides his wife, survivors include four children.
Damon Harris, another former member of the Temptations, died last week.
“Hey Girl (I Like Your Style),” the first track off of the Temptation’s 1973 ” Masterpiece” LP, is one of my favorite Richard Street leads with the Temptations. Take a listen for yourself and tell me you don’t agree.
Rest In Peace.
