#1 Country, #7 Pop
Before “Chug-A-Lug” came on the music scene, Roger Miller‘s “Dang Me” was the track that took him to to top of the Country Charts and gave him his first top ten crossover hit. It was the beginning of much success for the affable singer/songwriter in the popular world of music!
It was also the start of the many music accolades bestowed on Mr. Miller. Case in point he received the following five (5) Grammy Awards just in 1964 alone:
1964 Best Country and Western Single “Dang Me”
1964 Best Country and Western Album Dang Me/Chug-a-Lug
1964 Best Country and Western Song “Dang Me”
1964 Best Country and Western Vocal Performance Male “Dang Me”
1964 Best New Country and Western Artist of 1964 Roger Miller
This beloved artist brought joy to many and was mos def taken away from us far too soon. His music is a big part of my childhood years and I thank him for those golden musical memories.
