“Crazy,” penned by singer-songwriter Willie Nelson,  was the third top ten hit for the “Queen of Country Crossover — Patsy Cline –  the first after her serious 1961 automobile accident.

This classic clip of Patsy is from a 1962 TV performance after the accident: the hair style with headband were to disguise  the scar from her surgery.

Patsy started out singing  country/rockabilly in the Fifties but my favorites are the latter ballads with lush orchestration spear headed by her then producer Owen Bradley. Co-incidentally these are the songs that contributed to her super-stardom and even though initially she had no love for the song “Crazy” — her interpretation became her signature song.

Gone too soon R.I.P Virginia Patterson Hensley (September 8, 1932 – March 5, 1963).
