“I Heard It Through The Grapevine” Peformed by Credence Clearwater Revival (1976)

May 22, 2012

What a week that has just passed! We old school music lovers lost three of our icons a row .. Chuck Brown, Donna Summer (who passed on my birthday!) and Robin Gibb.  In case you slept through the Seventies and Eighties, please check out their respective Obituaries at our sister blog EOINA.

Now it is time to get back to posting on time and on Theme so please enjoy another great cover, this one Rock,  of a Motown Classic …”Heard It Through The Grapevine!”

“Grapevine” was composed by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong in 1966 and a decade later CCR tried their hand at the classic.

#43 Pop

I loved the sound of CCR back in the day and always looked forward to their single releases such as “Bad Moon Rising,” “Fortunate Son” and “Looking Out My Back Door!”  And of course  everyone loved “Proud Mary” — even Ike & Tina. :-)

The band was comprised of brothers Tom &  John Fogerty,  Doug Clifford and  Stu Cook. They got together at the end of the 60s and disbanded in the early 70s, but left a great musical legacy as a group in their short duration. “Grapevine may not have charted in the top ten but it was always a favorite of mine.

Musically Yours,
