#1 Pop week of 6/19/65 and again week of 7/3/1965, #1 R&B

“I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)” is another one of the number ones composed by the songwriting team of Holland/Dozier/Holland of Motown Records: they surely had the magic touch for composing Pop hits. The “Tops” performance of this great song, led by the singularly unique lead voice of Mr. Levi Stubbs, was just the icing on the song cake!

Check out the live 1967 performance of  “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)” by The Four Tops in Germany after the signature.

TRIVIA: There were many covers of this classic track, including some that made the Top 40. Did you know that even The Top’s  recorded a cover version of their original  “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)” — in Italian?! It’s true.
