#4 USA POP, #5 UK

For a while the DC5 certainly gave The Beatles a run for their money, both in their UK home and here in the States.

I was a big fan and saw every one of their Ed Sullivan appearances. Even my step-mother, at the time (RIP), was a fan and had their LPs that I would play often when I would go to visit.

The DC5 (Dave Clark, Mike Smith, Lenny Davidson, Rick Huxley and Denis Payton) has a great catalog of music created between 1961 when they formed as The Dave Clark Quintet and 1970 when The Dave Clark Five disbanded. Some of my favorite British Invasion tracks are in that catalog and will be blogged about in months to come here at OSML.

“Catch Us If You Can” was just one of their many hits. DC5 did both great original and cover tunes, but this was an original composed by group members Clark and Lenny Davidson.

Trivia: Did you know that the DC5  appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show more times than any other British Invasion act? Well it is true!

Musically Yours,
