Here is the Queen of Soul performing “Chain of Fools’ for which she won the 1968 Grammy for Best Rhythm and Blues Vocal Performance, Female.
In addition to this 1968 Grammy, the song would be honored once again by the Academy by being entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2004. 
Written by Don Covay, “Chain of Fools” was recorded by Franklin in 1967, and topped the charts in 1968 – #1 R&B and #2 Pop.
This 1967 gospel song was, no doubt, Mr. Covay’s inspiration for his composition. Wouldn’t you agree.
