“Nuttin’ For Christmas” Performed by Stan Freberg ft. Daws Butler; Ricky Zahnd & The Bluejeaners; Art Mooney & his Orchestra ft. Barry Gordon; Joe Ward (1955)

December 15, 2011

I was not quite two years old when this tune came out,  but I heard it a lot during my tiny tot years, as a deterrent to being bad around the Holiday season :-)  Catchy tune isn’t it.

I found this great animation on YouTube: it was created in 2009 by one  Doug Compton. Great job sir!

Freberg’s rendition of  “Nuttin’ For Christmas,” composed by Sid Tepper and Roy C. Bennett, was certainly not the only version released during December 1955.  Check out this trivia below.

Song Trivia: In December 1955 there were three versions of this song by the following one hit wonders:

As “(I’m Gettin’) Nuttin’ for Christmas” by Ricky Zahnd and the Blue Jeaners; charted #31 week ending December 24, 1955.

As “Nuttin’ for Christmas” by Art Mooney and his Orch. ft  Barry Gordoncharted #6 week ending December 31, 1955.

As “Nuttin’ for Xmas” by Joe Ward – charted #20 week ending December 31, 1955.

Drop me a comment to which version is your favorite and why. I would love to hear from you.

Happy Holidays,
