As soon as I heard this song on my Pandora Holiday Station I felt like the Holiday season had REALLY arrived. Naturally it is my first Holiday Season song post for the month of December.

Performed by the teenage country-pop sensation Brenda Lee, this single was released originally in 1958, then 1959 and eventually charted in 1960 and continues to chart decade after decade –  making it one the the all-time holiday classic of any genre IMHO. Just take a look at some of  these stats:

1960 #14 Pop Single
1998 #16 AC
2005 #23 Hot Digital Songs
2006 #17 Top 40 Recurrents
2007 #3 Hot Canadian Digital Singles
2009 #1 Hot Holiday Songs

The song, composed by Johnny Marks, also was the first track on Lee’s 1964 LP “Merry Christmas from Brenda Lee” LP that was so good it was re-released in 1972 and charted at #7 on the LP Charts!

This song will be a holiday staple for generations to come just as it is for me! Don’t you agree!

BTW, the song “Rockin Around The Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee has its own Facebook Page and there is a Brenda Lee Facebook Page as well if you want to read up on this child prodigy.

Happy Holidays,
