Young Henry John Deutschendorf  began performing locally while a college student, taking the stage name John Denver.

Chad Mitchell Trio (John Denver, center)

Eventually he dropped out to go west to Los Angeles, California where he joined the Chad Mitchell Trio folk group.

Determined to have a solo career as a performer, and not just a song writer,  John Denver eventually made and released three albums of music before he finally became known as a vocal artist with his release of “Take Me Home, Country Roads”!

This wasn’t Denver’s first “traveling” song and it wasn’t his last.

This may be my first John Denver post — but it won’t be my last. :-)

Enjoy this sing-along,  soft folk-rock classic while you visualize those awesome country roads in the Autumn and stay tuned for more traveling music during the month of September here at OSML.

Musically Yours,
