“Stoned Soul Picnic” Performed by The 5th Dimension (1968) was the March 5, 2008 OSML post.

The multi-talented Laura Nyro, the composer, recorded and released “SSP” the same year as The 5th did.

Nyro’s  rendition appeared on her second  LP entitled “Eli and the Thirteenth Confession,” released in March 1968.

Have a listen to the composer’s vision, before clicking the above link to the top ten original hit of the song as performed by the talented 5th Dimension singing group.

After you have listened to both — please return to this post and vote for your favorite version.

I loved the days of AM radio when the 5th Dimension carried the airwaves.
Laura Nyro had a unique vision to about summertime and picnics.

Welcome to OSML Edward!
Always great to meet another fellow classic oldies lover and I see from you Blog that you are mos def a lover of music!.
I agree with you that those AM radio music days were the best! I always looked forward to the times my Mom would buy me a new transistor.
Then when the weekend came (Friday Night), and I wouldn’t have to get up for school the next morning,
I would hide under the cover with my radio — searching for the latest hits on the big city clear station channels in the wee hours of the night!
Good times. Great days. Awesome memories.

Your visit is most appreciated.
