“Holding Back The Years” Performed By Simply Red (1985)

June 17, 2010

I have always loved this oft-covered tune. I was surprised and pleased to find this original promotional video online since I don’t ever recall seeing it before. That’s the best thing about blogging — finding out something new!

“Holding Back the Years” was composed by the red headed lead singer of  Britain’s soul group”Simply Red”, Michael James Hucknall, known as Mick and/or  “Red.”

The song charted #1 Pop, #4 Adult Contemporary and #29 R&B Singles here in the USA in 1986.

It appeared on the group’s very first  super successful 1985 LP entitled  “Picture Book” which was released in 1985 and charted a respectable #16 Pop and #26 R&B in 1986.

Be sure to check out more “Simply Red” videos at the YouTube ” Simply Red Official Video Channel.”

British Blue Eyed Soul at its best, eh?  What do you think about this awesome group?

Musically Yours,

Thanks jamorama! And I am glad you are here and participating at OSML. We just can’t let what I call “real” music die and be replace by the mostly fluff that passes today for music. Oldies forever!
