“Never Gonna Give You Up” Performed by Rick Astley (1987)

June 3, 2010

During the Eighties I was a dancing fool (ROTFL). This was one of those songs that was on the regular play list when going to dance during “Happy Hour” after work “back in the day.”

Of course whenever you saw the video play on the big screen next to the dance floor, one could never believe that such a voice came from such a face … but it did.

Check out this “Pop Up Video” version  for the song: it is full of fun facts about Astley and the video shoot. BTW “Pop-Up Videos” was a great show and should return to VH1,  shouldn’t it?

“Never Gonna Give You Up” was Richard Paul Astley’s debut single.  Composed by Matt Aitken, Mike Stock and Pete Waterman, this groovy track topped three music charts at #1 in 1987 … Dance Music/Club Play Singles, Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales and The Billboard Hot 100!

Now that’s a sure-fire HIT and what better way to kick off the musical presentation theme for June here at OSMl — British Blue Eyed Soul!

See and hear more of Astley at the Official Rick Astley YouTube Site.

We have just GOT to figure out why music isn’t playing for you Supa! You probably are missing some add-in for your system. What browser do you use? Do you have the latest version of “Adobe Flash Player” installed? You need that to hear the songs.

Also are both your sound card and speakers operational?

Anyway glad you got to hear the song! It is a great blast from the past for me.

Hugs to you and yours.
