“Happy Xmas (The War is Over)” Performed by John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band (1971)

December 12, 2007

Before Elton John made his classic Christmas song, England’s former Beatle John Lennon did it with amazing results! Below find an interesting review on the song.

Song Review by William Ruhlmann
The Beatles never released a commercial Christmas record during their career, though they recorded holiday messages for their fan club each year. With the group disbanded, former Beatle John Lennon determined to make a Christmas record in 1971, combining the seasonal sentiments with his antiwar activism. The rest can be found here.

Boy….Times sure have changed! Not for the better I’m afraid. Look at their faces! They truly loved one another. Where did we lose our way????

When war becomes “no more” we will all be able to smile again! Unfortunately war just keeps escalating.

I am glad I came up when I did. As a “Boomer Baby” I was able to grow up happy and now I have beautiful childhood memories to sustain me. Music helps to foster those memories … don’t you think?

Hope to see c u again soon Bill. Glad you found me.

Even though this is a pretty good example. I believe that there is a lot more that could be written on this particular subject.

I agree. If you would like to prepare a Holiday guest post for 2009 year end or even Holiday 2010 guest post — just let me know. SonDan
