Hello world!

August 23, 2007

After a few false starts, I am ready to take my place on the internet by blogging about something that I love – Old School Music. The music that I have the love affair with is mostly from from the 1960s and 1970s with a smattering of late 1950s and early 1980s. It spans the genres of Soul, Deep Soul, R&B, Funk, Gospel Quartets, Country Pop, AM Pop, Doo-Wop, Girl Groups, The British Invasion, Blues, Reggae, Zydeco, Smooth Jazz and Instrumental Pop among others.

I hope to meet some compadres that share this love and can perhaps school me to something I might have missed along the way.

Thanks for stopping by.

Love your site! Thought you’d like to know this:

Melinda Doolittle, finalist from the 2007 American Idol reality show, will release My Funny Valentine as her first solo single. Most viewers watched her perform the song to perfection live, so the full-length version has been highly-anticipated. It is available for downloading from iTunes starting on February 12, 2008.

We all love Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughn and so many more legends. Help us spread the word as another legend-in-the-making continues her journey “from the background mic to the front mic.”

Thank you for the compliment. I am having fun blogging and hope I can continue for a long while to come.

Thanks for letting me know about Melinda’s upcoming release. Frankly, I thought she should have won AI … but what do I know. I don’t have access to Itunes, but I hope to be able to be able to hear her song some way, some how.

Thanks for letting me know about it (and the site). I will be stopping by the Melinda site soon.
